Winter hiking & snowshoeing

140 kilometres of cleared winter hiking trails and various snowshoe hiking routes lead through the magical mountain world of the Glemmtal. The tours can be explored on your own (maps and suggestions are available from us) or experienced together as part of the weekly programme. The right sports equipment is available to rent in the modern shops around the Schachner – a gentle full-body workout in the fresh air!

In addition to the perfect downhill runs, Saalbach is also known as a ski mountaineering and freeride area. Designated areas, especially in Fieberbrunn, provide off-piste fun at its best. Here too, the latest skiing equipment is available to rent and guides are happy to show you around the region. Together, you can experience the most beautiful places in the Glemmtal valley and POWDER deluxe!

Toboggan runs provide variety and fun. Partly floodlit in the evening, the popular runs wind their way down into the valley. Take the gondola lift on the Reiterkogel for the ascent before racing down around 3.5 kilometres. You can get to the starting point at the Spielberghaus either on foot or with the Pistenbully taxi, which picks up guests by appointment. Fun for the whole family!

A romantic ride through the valley end of Hinterglemm – a horse-drawn sleigh ride is a must for any winter holiday in the mountains! The pick-up point is at the free car park, about four kilometres from Hotel Schachner. Beautiful horses pull the noble sleighs and their passengers leisurely through the glittering winter landscape. Refreshments included!

There’s another highlight to discover at the valley end. The Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps and the Tree Top Path are a popular excursion destination at any time of year. The majestic bridge spans from one side of the valley to the other, delighting visitors as they walk up to 40 metres above the ground. The Tree Top Path leads through the beautiful spruce forest at lofty heights and offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountain scenery.

Ice skating and tennis fans will love the Sportzentrum Hinterglemm. The modern facility is perfect for outings on the ice or in the indoor tennis centre. There is free parking at the sports centre. The sports centre can be easily reached on foot via the Saalach promenade in 15 minutes.

The archery facility in Viehhofen offers fun and variety in the fresh air. Skill is required here – shoot at 3D targets with a bow and arrow, which can be rented here. Instructions and explanations are offered on site. Good footwear is a must!

Things get speedy at the Offroadpark in Viehhofen – the park can be explored with a variety of motorsports vehicles. Quads, crawlers, enduro bikes, trials and much more are available. As well as guided tours, there is also free riding on the flat course and a special children’s course.
